Following on from last year’s successful event, the BASHH Adolescent Special Interest and Sexual Violence groups invite you to their training day on the 29th September 2014.
The programme covers a number of topical issues, including female genital mutilation (FGM), child sexual exploitation (CSE), domestic violence, medico legal skills and the management of complex sexual assault. The day will consist of a combination of lectures, workshops and interactive case studies. It is relevant to healthcare workers in settings where sexual violence may present, especially those working in Genitourinary Medicine, HIV Medicine, Sexual and Reproductive Health, General Practice and Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Learning Objectives
- To be aware of the prevalence of domestic violence and understand how it may impact on healthcare
- To understand how female genital mutilation may present in healthcare settings, identify it and manage disclosure
- To explore child sexual exploitation in the UK and learn how to identify it and manage it
- To understand the legal issues surrounding sexual violence and learn medico legal skills
- To develop a practical approach to managing complex sexual assault
