Richard has worked as a Health Adviser since 1995 and is currently Lead for West Sussex. He has a degree in Sociology and Politics, is a registered nurse and has a Post Graduate Certificate in Health and Social Care Education.

Richard has given presentations to BASHH including, in 2009, a Post HIV Diagnosis Structured Interview, (the West Sussex Structured Interview or WeSSI), which covers a range of topics for HIV positive patients such as wellbeing, criminalisation, PEPSE, partner notification and testing children.

Special interests include education and developing health advising services: Richard has produced teaching materials for use in schools, and is a visiting lecturer at the University of Brighton, (teaching on ethical issues in STI/HIV); he was also involved in the successful tendering process for sexual health services in West Sussex.

Richard would like to strengthen links between SSHA and those health care professionals carrying out the health advising role in the South East region. If you would like to discuss any local or national developments, have an example of good practice you want to share or would just like to be kept in touch, please email Richard on the email address above.
