Jamie was SSHA President for 5 years and greatly enjoyed the role. He was honoured that he represent Sexual Health Advisers nationally and takes great pride in promoting Health Advising as a profession wherever possible and working hard on behalf of individual health advisers and SSHA and will continue to do so.

  • Trained as RGN 1989-1992 -Royal London Hospital
  • Worked as a Nurse in Sexual Health/HIV at Ambrose King Centre (Royal London Hospital 1992-1997)
  • Sexual Health Adviser at Patrick Clements Clinic (Central Middlesex Hospital 1997-1999)
  • Sexual Health Adviser at Ambrose King Centre(Royal London Hospital 1999-2003)
  • Senior Sexual Health Adviser Greenway Centre (Newham general Hospital 2003-2007)
  • Senior Sexual Health Adviser –John Hunter Clinic (Chelsea and Westminster Hospital 2007-Present)
  • Clinic Manager – John Hunter Clinic (Currently)
  • Represented the profession on the Medfash guidelines ‘Recommended Standards for Sexual Health Services in 2005
  • Represented the profession on BASHH Board 2006-8
  • Represented the profession on working group re UK National Guidelines for HIV testing 2008
  • Represented the profession on the Advisory Group for the Medfash ‘Standards for the management of sexually transmitted infections’
  • Also representing the profession on the DOH working group that is currently looking at Education, Registration and competencies for Sexual Health Advisers and working closely with the UKVPHR (UK Voluntary Public Health Register) around the same issues.

The Society of Sexual Health Advisers (SSHA) is a UK national organisation with approximately 300 members out of an estimated 350 sexual health advisers in the country. It provides an opportunity for members to meet and work towards further professional development.
