Sexual health charities Brook and FPA have launched the first ever UK Sexual Health Awards. Showcasing some of the best, creative and innovative work in sexual health, the Awards are expected to attract hundreds of nominations from individuals and organisations keen to win recognition at the Awards ceremony in March 2012.

The Awards will be hosted by one of Britain’s best-loved TV presenters, Davina McCall, who has constantly supported the work of sexual health charities.

Six categories including the JLS young person of the year (backed by award-winning urban boy band JLS) and the prestigious Rosemary Goodchild Award for excellence in journalism are now open for nominations. Find out more at: www.uksexualhealthawards.org.uk.

The Award categories are:

  • UK sexual health professional of the year
  • UK young person sexual health project of the year
  • UK adult sexual health service/project of the year
  • JLS young person of the year
  • Pamela Sheridan Innovation in sex and relationships education Award
  • Rosemary Goodchild Award for excellence in sexual health journalism

Entries are welcome in all categories from professionals and volunteers.

Nominations for the Awards close on 31 December 2011 and the winners will be honoured at a glittering Awards night on Thursday 15 March 2012. The Awards will be held at Troxy, situated near the City of London.

Julie Bentley, FPA’s Chief Executive, said:

“We are delighted to be partnering with Brook on the UK Sexual Health Awards which will recognise and celebrate the work of dedicated professionals working in all fields of sexual health.”

Brook’s Chief Executive, Simon Blake, added:

“With so much change taking place in health it’s a great pleasure to reward the innovation, creativity and passion of the people who make such a huge difference to people’s lives with their work in sexual health.”
