Ceri has been a Sexual Health Adviser since 1991, and is the Senior SHA at 10 Hammersmith Broadway Clinic in London. She is the current President of SSHA, having taken over from Martin Murchie in September 2019. Ceri  is also the SHA representative on BASHH Board, Clinical Standard Unit, Herpes SIG and STIF Competency and Foundation groups. Her particular interests include working with people with Learning Disabilities, Young People and Pornography and the Criminalisation of STI Transmission. Started in GUM in 1988 as a nurse and moved into health advising in 1990 .  Has worked in 9 different GUM clinics in London and now Manchester .   Dorinda continues to feel very passionate about the HA role and has now qualified and work as a psychotherapist and has particularly been involved in developing the motivational interviewing training.

Hu Clarke

Hu has been a Sexual Health Adviser, at Homerton University Hospital since 2013. He is a qualified Psychodynamic and Psychosexual Therapist, with over 20 years’ experience. Hu is also a clinical supervisor and trainer, previously working for Family Planning Association and Body Positive (London). His interests include working with people with Learning Disabilities, Young People, Homeless, LGBTQ+ and BAME and hard to reach communities. Martin qualified as a nurse in 1995 and thankfully at the time was asked to cover some nursing sessions in GUM which sparked my interested and career in sexual health. In 1998 he was successful in gaining the first sexual health advising post focused on gay men within Scotland moving on to become the Senior SHA with Sandyford services in 2001. He has worked in sexual health for over 25 years though changed career in to nurse education at Glasgow Caledonian University in 2019 but continues to work two sessions in sexual health advising within Sandyford.

About SSHA

The Society of Sexual Health Advisers (SSHA) is a UK national organisation with approximately 300 members out of an estimated 350 sexual health advisers in the country. It provides an opportunity for members to meet and work towards further professional development.
